home and such......

The sun is hanging lower in the sky and the light that cascades through my living room by late morning is glorious. All my worries about this room being dark and dreary over the winter have been cast aside. Between the sun and the glowing fire, it's the best place to be.

Over the last few weeks I have visited with many friends and family in this space, all the while knitting a few stitches here and there. The solo mitten that had been in my stash f-o-r-e-v-e-r (along with matching hat) got its mate and made their way to my little nephew. Yes, I forgot to take a picture before I packed them up. Speaking of forgetting, or truly just the art of being busy, the beautiful pile of beeswax dipped leaves never made their way to becoming garland. Ahhh, well. Good intentions anyway.

I tried again to capture the green of the living room…. no luck. It insists on being yellow in photographs. I don't blame it really, I love yellow too.

Would you like a peek at my current knitting project? The fisherman sweater for my little guy in Jackie's Spectra. (spice colorway) It's delicious and quick in such a bulky yarn….. perfect for a gal who can only manage a row or two here and there. I just finished the yoke & split the sleeves. Adding a bit of stripes next with those other colors you see. One is a grayish-coco and the other is curry. See, I told you her yarn was delicious….. all food colors!

I'm off to get some sewing done for the fair this weekend! I'll be in New Hampshire here. Over 50 artists with goods priced under $50. It looks like it will be a wonderful event.

See you tomorrow with some link love and Saturday for a giveaway from the shop!

  1. Aw…I am so pleased that you’re happy with your Luna Grey yarn. It was fun working together to create the perfect colorways for this project : ) Oh, and I must ask…Is the last photo taken on your sofa? I love that fabric! We’ll be looking for a new sofa soon and that fabric is just what I had in mind.

  2. Yes, indeed! I sat the colors you helped me coordinate on my shelf next the curry yarn I ordered this summer and realized it *had* to be in the sweater too! They look so perfect all together 🙂 I will be so excited to see the stripes in it when I get some time to knit again. The couch is new, from IKEA. It's their KIVIK sofa in the TULINGE grey-brown…. it matches the yarn almost exactly! So funny. Anyhow, it's a great sofa if you've got an older house with small doorways (like us!) it comes in pieces and you put it together, plus it's a slipcover. Perfect for life with kids!

  3. Oh, those yarns do look delicious!
I need a bulky yarn project to mix up all of this sock yarn knitting I have been doing.
That craft fair looks so cool. The under $50 is such a great idea!

  4. I wish I had some wisdom to share…. scrambling here too. I was over-prepared for the last one and under-prepared for this one. Such is life! I have one more fair before the holidays, and it's a big one!! Exciting stuff 🙂 Best of luck to you KC!

  5. I haven’t been by your space in ages! I see you’ve moved! Oh, the east coast. I love where I live, but long for a full year, at least on the far east coast. It’s a different kind of history. Your glimpses and space are beautiful, as always. Oh, and Stephinie, my kids still love and use their trick or treating bags you made. This year, they got loads of loot and handed it over to our homeschool charter quite happily. I hope all is well. Warmly, Nicola

  6. Hello Nicola! It's nice to "see" you 🙂 Yes, we've moved. We're slowly getting settled into our new space here in Massachusetts. I am so glad the kids still use their trick-or-treat bags! I just started sewing those bags up again this fall. It's fun to send them out to little ones again. Wishing you a lovely holiday season! xoxo~
