knitting……. sewing…….

This might just be the fastest turn around time ever.

The fabric purchased Monday afternoon became a tablecloth by Tuesday.

A simple square with a wide border. I suppose a round table should have a round tablecloth? But I wanted simple. We listened to the last bits of this while I sewed and pressed and sewed. (it is really so very good!) I'm blaming this little project on Jade who gave me the push to sew it up. We need some color in here mom….. c'mon it will be pretty. She was right. A tiny bit of handmade and it feels more like home. I think it was her idea to move the table to the window too. Which again, she was right. It's the best spot in the house….. bright, warm and sunny. And with a splash of color now too……

And some knitting is happening too. I just separated the front, arm holes, & back pieces of the sweater and started the first sleeve. I wonder if I can get this sweater finished before we head to the new house? Maybe…… just maybe….

  1. You are so creative, Stephinie! I love the fabrics you used and your daughter was right, putting the table by the window is a perfect location.
I tried my hand at knitting and crocheting but just couldn’t do it. Then I took a weaving class and loved it! Even bought a loom. But that was over 26 years ago and I no longer have my loom. Maybe someday I will take it up again ~

  2. Who travels with a sewing machine, really!? As always, I miss you and your ………eccentric personality! I believe that’s the nice way to say “quirky”…right? 😉 Love ya!

  3. Ahhh, well…… it’s been so hard to be in between. I didn’t imagine it would be, but we’re just so excited for the new house. It’s a bit like waiting for Christmas. I do think the knitting and sewing will see me through 🙂

  4. Thank you Darlene! I love that green….. it jumped out at me from the shelves. I wish I could have bought more of it, but I got the last little bit on the bolt.
I’m sure if you found someone to knit with you could figure it out. I just learned a few years ago and needed one on one lessons to get going! lol
And weaving….. I love it! I hope to find a place near Providence that offers classes or studio space to weave. It is so peaceful, meditative really….. I hope you find some time to pick it back up 🙂

  5. The green is my favorite too. I wish I could find some more for napkins. The last of my cloth napkins made their way to the rag pile before we moved and I need to sew up some more……
