for violet…. or annie… or whatever her name is….

Well firstly, let's excuse the poor lighting in these photos shall we? It was a rainy day… every day has been that way lately…. and so the lighting is uhm… challenging.

I experimented with a new batting and had an oops quilt that I couldn't sell in the shop. Sophie was completely smitten with the fabric, so we cut it up….

We saw these on pinterest and used her favorite doll to measure for size. I left the curvy edge of the quilt for the top and we rounded the corners. Do you see what it is? A sleeping bag for her baby. (who's name still changes regularly!) Out of the scrap basket came the last wee bit of homemade bias tape from this.

We sewed it up. The girl & I. She on my lap while we stitched. She sewed the pillow up all herself and then the baby of many names had a nice cozy spot for napping….

Something not so good turned into something quite lovely after all. This repurposing might be my very favorite type of sewing in terms of gratification. A perfect way to spend a rainy day, indeed.

What have you been creating these days?

  1. Awh sweet! Love your creativity . The lighting turned out good.
I came home to a large yard full of WEEDS. It is totally amazing how fast they developed in 3 weeks. My yard was weed free when I left. We had a good rain last evening so it made it a little easier pulling. I got out by 6 this morning. Had to come in by 7:15 as the sun was getting too hot. And, it doesn’t help that I came down with a nasty cold yesterday. Only have about 3/4 of the yard to go.

  2. The batting didn't feel right, it was too stiff and it was slippery so the fabric shifted & bunched up when I quilted. I'm a tiny bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the shop 🙂

  3. I've got something similar in the works…. will share soon 🙂 And I love the dress too. It's handmade though I've no idea from where. Very easy to dress violet/annie with the elastic neck.

  4. Thank you 🙂 We ended up with nasty colds coming home too. And I truly understand the weeds. We've been getting TONS of rain and the yard needs mowed twice a week. Joe says in our forever house there will be gardens of veggies and flowers but no grass to mow. I'm with him on that one!
