a little swamped…..

Firstly, and most importantly, we're still dry here. (yeah!)

Things are looking very good and we're very hopeful. We're still w-a-i-t-i-n-g for high water…. it's so crazy. But that's just about all we can do.

So while we hope & wait….. I have been sewing.

It turns out the prospect of flooding is the perfect reason to procrastinate. I was so sure that the kids & I would be heading out of town and that my trip would be canceled. So I totally stopped preparing…. what was I thinking?

Now, in true Stephinie (aka queen procrastinator) fashion I'm down to the wire with a crazy to do list that is so long it's actually humorous….

I've got about 2 dozen things to finish sewing up, Sam has orientation at his new school (3 hours away) on Friday, my mom comes in Saturday, we pick Sam up Monday and my mom & I leave Tuesday. Sometime before Saturday I should really clean my mama-has-been-busy neglected house and make sure the pantry contains something edible for my dear sweet husband to feed the children while I am away.

You could say I'm feeling a little swamped….

Which is somehow funny to me because I LIVE in a swamp….

(if it's not funny, I'm blaming it on the lack of sleep, over caffeinated brain in my head)

And before I procrastinate any further, I really should get back to work.

But first I want to show you a flower from our garden.

Zinnias, love them. They make me smile.

See, there I go again…. distracted by anything that isn't work. Oh my.

  1. We got our first purple zinnia bloom this week! Love it! And a sunflower. We all just look at them and smile.
I am soooo jealous of those cucumbers in you header. 🙂 My cucumbers seriously do not like me.
    Happy sewing!

  2. LOL! Thank you for the smiling zinnia and the smile you gave me this morning. So very happy to know you’re spirit is not waterlogged! Good luck getting through that to-do list!

  3. I wondered when I saw your header, if “swamped” was a play on words and that you actually had tadpoles in your livingroom after being flooded…glad to hear you’re as swamped as me…crazy days ahead and will be so glad when July shows her face. Good luck with your to-do list!!

  4. Beautiful cheerful Zinnia. Such a pretty color. Mine are just starting to bloom from last years flower seeds.
Thank you for the updates & pics. so G.G. knows all is being done that can be. I keep track of the M.C. updates & pray for you all.
I just returned (yesterday) from a wonderful 17 days in Texas. Got to see Sammie graduate. She seems to have chosen the right path.
Love you all & & keep up the good spirits.

  5. Oh, so glad that you’ll be headed up to the east!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!!! Have a wonderful time:)

  6. Me too! This weekend you'll have to swing by for my table "test run" and see what I've been up to. After pulling it all out of the closet today, I feel more prepared than I thought!

  7. 3 for you but 4 for us….. I totally was going by Alaska time & had to add a day for Soph…. after arguing for at least 10 minutes that you were not going to be here on Friday. She'd count the hours if she could!

  8. Can you imagine, tadpoles in the living room? Eeek. So far so good with the water staying in the swamp where it should be. Glad to have a fellow "swamped" mama though….. here's to a relaxing summer ahead of us!

  9. We started ours from seed too. I've got them in pots all around the garden in hopes of attracting any pollinating bugs…. it seems to work! Sophie especially loves her flowers. So glad you had a wonderful visit in TX….. much love 🙂

  10. I’m glad that pulling stuff out helped you..I felt REALLY bad..especially when I saw you were up at 3:30 am…lol Saturday evening..I’ll come by. 🙂
