Vermillionville, LA

On a recent homeschool co-op field trip we visited Vermillionville. A beautiful display of historic homes. After a very amazing watershed exhibit, the kids got lost for hours in the houses……

I love the opportunity to connect my children with their history in such a hands on sort of way. One of the perks of being a traveling family is getting to know our new home with each move. Vermillionville was rather quiet on a Friday afternoon in December and we mostly had the place to ourselves…. sitting back a bit and watching the kids explore the houses as a group…. talking amongst themselves to figure things out and share their knowledge was really cool. The mamas read from the map and some signs in the houses…. but mostly they all just explored…. it was perfect.

{ps a big thank you to all your sweet comments from yesterday!!}
