Holidays? Really?

Somehow I don't seem to notice that the holidays are just around the corner until after Halloween. And this year the green grass and 70 degree weather is further confusing my poor mind. Can Christmas really be only 7 weeks away? I think I'm hyperventilating……..

November is an insane month for me getting things prepared…. I do simple handmade gifts for our far away relatives… (assuming shutterfly calendars count as handmade?) and I usually send out something unique to our area that is consumable…. like local coffee, chocolate or preserves. The family in my house is easy…. especially since I have up until the last minute to get things done!

For the next few weeks on Fridays I'll share some things I'm doing to make our holidays easier…. handmade ideas, food ideas, gift ideas, etc.

I love having a stockpiled base of ideas for my kids to make simple but useful gifts…. and quick and easy things for me to make too… here are some fun ones I've come across in the past few weeks…..

~A lovely simple scarf by Stitches in Play

~Felt Slippers

~Felt Cases (perfect project for that young sewer in your house!)

~Gemstone Necklace (another kid friendly idea)

~Toadstool (I think a mini version of this made with natural materials would be a fun addition to a nature table!)

~Beautiful Placemats

And purely for enjoyment, you should head over to Anna Maria's and look at her amazing new line of fabric. Oh my. I think I want one of each! Her designs are just beyond lovely.

Happy Weekending Folks!

  1. I’ll be looking forward to all your ideas. I’m trying hard to focus on light and joy during this advent season and not get caught in the hustle and bustle– even when that hustle and bustle is handmade! So ways to simplify? Yes, please!
